Function of Transformer Moisture Absorber

  working principle:The moisture absorber is equipped with desiccants (such as silica gel, activated alumina, etc.). When external air enters the interior of the transformer, the desiccants will absorb moisture from the air, preventing humid air from directly contacting the transformer oil.

  Protection of insulating oil:The electrical insulation strength of transformer oil is extremely sensitive to moisture. If humid air enters the oil pillow, moisture will dissolve in the oil, causing a decrease in insulation performance and even leading to serious faults such as winding short circuit and burnout.

  The moisture absorber ensures that the insulation oil maintains good electrical performance and extends the service life of the transformer by drying the air.

3、 Typical Structure and Maintenance Points of Moisture Absorbers

  Structural example:It usually consists of a glass cover, a desiccant container, connecting pipes, etc. Some moisture absorbers are equipped with oil seals at the bottom to prevent undried air from directly entering.

  Maintenance precautions:Regularly check the color of desiccants (such as silica gel changing from blue to pink when damp), and promptly replace expired desiccants.

Check if the oil seal is intact to prevent external air from entering the interior of the transformer without drying.
