Introduction to Copper Foil Products

  Copper foil is a type of negative electrolytic material that appears as a thin and continuous metal foil deposited on the substrate layer of a circuit board. As a key conductor of PCB, it plays a significant role in the field of electronics. There are various methods for its production, commonly including rolling and electrolysis. Rolled copper foil is made from copper plate through rolling process; Electrolytic copper foil is obtained by rotating a stainless steel drum shaped electrode in a copper sulfate electrolytic cell, and copper is electrolyzed and precipitated on the electrode. The copper foil produced by this method has a bright surface in contact with the electrode and a rough surface on the opposite side.

  Copper foil commonly has two types of copper content: 90% (90 foil) and 88% (88 foil). The size is mostly 16 × 16cm, and it has many excellent characteristics. It has low surface oxygen characteristics and can firmly adhere to various substrates such as metals and insulation materials, with a wide range of applicable temperatures. Excellent performance in electromagnetic shielding and anti-static fields, when placed on a substrate and combined with a metal substrate, it has excellent conductivity and can effectively achieve electromagnetic shielding. According to their characteristics and applications, copper foil is divided into self-adhesive copper foil, double conductive copper foil, single conductive copper foil, and other types. Electronic grade copper foil has a purity of over 99.7% and a thickness ranging from 5um to 105um, making it a fundamental material in the electronics industry.

  Copper foil is widely used in various applications. In terms of electronic basic materials, it is used for copper-clad laminates and fine printed circuit boards; In the field of energy, it is a key material for the negative electrode current collector of lithium-ion batteries. In the civilian field, products such as televisions, video recorders, CD players, copiers, telephones, air conditioning systems, electronic components for automobiles, and game consoles are all used. In the industrial and high-tech fields, copper foil is indispensable for the manufacturing of industrial calculators, communication equipment, QA equipment, as well as 3C products represented by smartphones and laptops, ESS energy storage systems, new energy vehicles, electric ships, drones and other battery products.
