Butterfly Valve
A butterfly valve consists of a valve body, a valve disc, a valve stem, and a valve seat (sealing ring).
Materials:
Valve body: Commonly made of cast iron, carbon steel, aluminum, or stainless steel.
Valve disc: Mostly made of stainless steel.
The most critical component is the sealing ring, which determines the upper limit of the valve's performance. Rubber seals are used for normal temperature and low pressure applications, while metal seals are suitable for high temperature and high pressure conditions.
Main Functions:
Act as an on-off valve to quickly cut off fluid flow.
Act as a control valve to regulate flow rate.
Advantages and Disadvantages:
Advantages: Fast opening and closing, small installation space, light weight, cost-effective for large-caliber applications, and easy maintenance.
Disadvantages: The core limitation lies in sealing performance. Conventional soft-sealed butterfly valves are not resistant to high temperature, high pressure, and abrasion. Additionally, the valve disc may cause obstruction to certain media in the pipeline.
