1.Definition: 

Silicon alloy steel with silicon content of 1.0~4.5% and carbon content of less than 0.08% is called silicon steel. It has the characteristics of high permeability, low coercivity, and high resistivity, so the hysteresis loss and eddy current loss are small. It is mainly used as a magnetic material in motors, transformers, electrical appliances and electrical instruments.

2.Performance characteristics: 

  1. Silicon steel uses core loss and magnetic induction strength as the magnetic guarantee value of the product. The low loss of silicon steel saves a lot of power, extends the operating time of motors and transformers, and simplifies the cooling system. 

  2. Silicon steel has high magnetic inductance, and the excitation current of the core is reduced, which also saves electrical energy. The high magnetic inductance of silicon steel can make the maximum magnetic inductance of the design high, the iron core is small in size, light in weight, saving silicon steel, wires, insulating materials and structural materials, etc., which not only reduces the loss and manufacturing cost of motors and transformers, but also facilitates assembly and transportation. 

  3. In addition, silicon steel is required to have good punching and shear properties, smooth and flat surface and uniform thickness, good insulating film and small magnetic aging.

3.Performance Requirements:

  1. Low iron loss, which is the most important indicator of the quality of silicon steel sheet. Countries classify grades according to the value of iron loss, and the lower the iron loss, the higher the grade.

  2. The magnetic induction intensity is high under a strong magnetic field, which reduces the volume and weight of the core of the motor and transformer, and saves silicon steel sheets, copper wires and insulating materials.

  3. The surface is smooth, flat and uniform in thickness, which can improve the filling coefficient of the core.

  4. Good punching performance, which is more important for the manufacture of micro and small motors.

  5. The adhesion and weld ability of the surface insulating film are good, which can prevent corrosion and improve the punching property.
