Transformer Step Spacer
Features: This spacer is primarily used in power transformers. It can be used long-term in transformer oil at 105°C.
Application: Widely used as insulation and support material for oil-cooled transformers.
Core Functions
Precise Positioning & Conformity: The stepped surface perfectly matches the multi-level laminated profile of the core, preventing localized stress concentration and ensuring uniform gaps between the core, clamping components, side beams, and foot pads.
Insulation Isolation: Interrupts conductive pathways between the core and metal clamping components, preventing eddy currents and partial discharges.
Mechanical Support & Vibration Damping: Transfers and evenly distributes core weight and short-circuit electrodynamic forces, enhancing overall structural rigidity;
Auxiliary Clamping: Facilitates core tightening with long bolts and clamping plates, suppressing vibration and noise.
Common Materials & Processes
Mainstream: Electrical laminated wood (multiple layers of specially treated wood veneers bonded and pressed, resistant to transformer oil, compression-resistant, and highly insulating);
Alternative materials include epoxy glass cloth boards and DMC molded plastics;
Precision milling is required to create stepped surfaces. Laminated wood is often reinforced with through bolts/connecting rods, and contact surfaces may be coated with oil-resistant epoxy adhesive to prevent loosening.
