Bronze and brass materials commonly used for transformer terminals have the following characteristics and differences:
1. Composition
Bronze: usually a copper-tin alloy or copper-aluminium alloy, modern bronze may also contain aluminium, silicon, lead and other elements.
Brass: is a copper-zinc alloy with a zinc content between 5% and 45%, and may contain small amounts of lead, aluminium and other elements.
Properties
2. Electrical conductivity
Bronze: Some bronzes, such as phosphor bronze, are less conductive than brass.
Brass: better electrical conductivity.
3.Mechanical properties
Bronze: high hardness
Brass: good elasticity. When subjected to certain external forces, can better restore the original state, not easy to occur permanent deformation, suitable for some need to frequently disassemble and install the terminal parts.
4. Processing performance
Bronze: due to its hardness and other reasons, the processing technology and equipment requirements are relatively high.
Brass: excellent processing performance, easy to stamping, bending, cutting and other processing operations. It can be easily made into terminals of various shapes and sizes to meet the installation and connection needs of different transformers.
