OIL LEVEL GAUGE

The oil level gauge for oil-immersed transformers is used to measure and display the oil level inside the transformer's oil tank. It plays a crucial role in the operation and maintenance of transformers, ensuring that the oil level remains within a safe range for effective cooling and insulation.

Main Types of Oil Level Gauges

1. Magnetic Float Oil Level Gauge:

Structure: Includes a float, indicator, and magnetic coupling system. Working Principle: The float moves up and down with the oil level, driving the magnetic coupling system, which mechanically displays the oil level.

Advantages: Simple structure, high reliability, and easy maintenance.

2. Glass Tube Oil Level Gauge:

Structure: Consists of a glass tube and corresponding connection components.

Working Principle: Directly observes the oil level through the glass tube, simple and intuitive.

Advantages: Simple structure and low cost.

Disadvantages: Glass is fragile and has lower safety.

3. Capacitive Oil Level Gauge:

Structure: Includes a capacitive sensor, electronic processing unit, and display.

Working Principle: Uses a capacitive sensor to detect oil level changes and displays the oil level through the electronic processing unit.

Advantages: High precision and capable of remote monitoring.

Disadvantages: Higher cost and maintenance requires technical support.

Main Functions

Real-time Monitoring of Oil Level: Ensures that the transformer oil level is always within a safe range.

Alarm Function: Triggers an alarm when the oil level is too high or too low, preventing faults caused by abnormal oil levels.

Data Recording and Analysis: Some high-end oil level gauges have data recording and analysis functions, facilitating long-term monitoring and maintenance.

Usage and Maintenance Considerations

Regular Inspections: Regularly check the working condition of the oil level gauge to ensure its accuracy and reliability.

Cleaning and Maintenance: Clean and maintain the oil level gauge to prevent measurement errors due to dirt or damage.

Timely Replacement of Damaged Parts: Replace any damaged parts of the oil level gauge promptly to avoid affecting the normal operation of the transformer.

The oil level gauge for oil-immersed transformers plays an important role in ensuring the safe operation of the transformer. Choosing the appropriate type of oil level gauge and performing proper maintenance are key to ensuring the long lifespan and high reliability of the transformer.
