Transformer iron core

The iron core of a transformer refers to the part of the transformer used to transmit magnetic fields, usually made of highly conductive magnetic materials, such as silicon steel sheets. The main function of the iron core is to increase the conduction efficiency of magnetic flux, thereby improving the efficiency of the transformer. The structure of the iron core generally adopts a layered structure, which means multiple iron chips are stacked together. This structure can reduce the leakage loss of magnetic flux and improve the efficiency of the transformer.

At the same time, the stacked structure can also reduce the volume of the iron core, making the transformer more compact. The material selection of the iron core is very important because it directly affects the performance of the transformer. Silicon steel sheet is the most commonly used iron core material because it has high magnetic conductivity and low conductivity, which can effectively conduct magnetic fields and reduce eddy current losses. In addition, silicon steel sheets also have lower saturation magnetic induction strength, which can withstand higher magnetic field strength without saturation. The design of the iron core also needs to consider the operating frequency of the transformer. At high frequencies, eddy current loss increases, so thinner iron chips are needed to reduce eddy current loss.

Meanwhile, for ultra-high frequency transformers, amorphous alloy materials can be used as iron cores because they have lower eddy current losses and higher saturation magnetic induction strength. In short, the iron core is a crucial part of a transformer, which can improve its efficiency and performance. At the same time, it also requires reasonable selection and design based on the operating frequency and requirements of the transformer.
