Gas relay
Gas relay, also known as Buchholz relay, is a component that uses the hot oil flow and hot air flow generated in the transformer to drive the relay to act, and is the protection element of the transformer.
The Buchholz relay is installed in the pipeline between the oil pillow and the oil tank of the transformer; if A discharge fault occurs inside the oil-filled transformer. The discharge arc decomposes the transformer oil and produces a variety of characteristic gases such as methane, acetylene, hydrogen, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, ethylene, ethane, etc. The more serious the fault, the greater the amount of gas. These gases After it is generated, it flows through the Buchholz relay when it rises from the inside of the transformer to the upper oil pillow; if the amount of gas is small, the gas will accumulate in the Buchholz relay, causing the float to drop, closing the normally open contact of the relay, and acting on the light gas The protection sends out a warning signal; if the amount of gas is large, the oil and gas will quickly rush out through the Buchholz relay, pushing the Buchholz relay's internal blocking action to close the other set of normally open contacts, and the heavy gas will directly start the relay protection trip and open the circuit breaker , Cut off the faulty transformer.
