Tap changer for transformers

The function of the tap changer is to adjust the output voltage of the transformer, ensure that the voltage is within the normal range, and adapt to the changes in the load of the power grid. It adjusts the voltage by changing the internal wiring of the transformer to prevent the voltage from being too high or too low and affecting the operation of the equipment.

In short, the tap changer is used to:

There are two types:

On-load tap changer: adjusts the voltage under load.

Off-load tap changer: needs to adjust the voltage when there is no load.
